NEW YORK, NY
Heritage Festival street banners were put up early this week on lamp
posts surrounding Union Square Park, the home of the Asian Pacific
American
Heritage Festival as preparations begin. Aside from Union Square Park,
Heritage Festival posters can be seen in various MTA subway stations in
Astoria, Long Island City, Richmond Hill, Whitestone, Corona, Rego
Park, Sunnyside, Jamaica and Glen Oaks.
The Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA),
organizers of the Heritage Festival, kicks off this annual event with
a gala called The First
Annual Lotus Award, which celebrates Asian Pacific American
Achievements. This year's Lotus Award honoree is Julie
Azuma, one of Inc. Magazine's 26 Most Fascinating Entrepreneurs.
