CAPA kicked-off the Heritage Festival with the First Annual Lotus Award. Sandy Endo presented the award to Julie Azuma, the first Lotus Award honoree. The Lotus Award is given to those who had made a difference in the APA community.

CAPA kicked-off the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month at the Macy's flagship Herald Square store with a panel discussion on "Asians in Media and Entertainment". Nancy Moran, Editor-in-Chief, of Altra Magazine was tapped to moderate the discussion. The panel consisted of prominent Asian American broadcasters, Kristine Johnson (Anchor, CBS), Sandy Endo (Political Reporter, NY1 News) and Shazia Khan (Manhattan Reporter, NY1 News). In addition, actor, James Kyson Lee of the hit NBC series, HEROES, rounded out the fabulous four.

Union Square Park North, the home of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival was packed with more than 10,000 people all afternoon as performances from both traditional and contemporary groups received much praise from festival attendees. More than 100 organizations from different Asian Pacific American groups sold Asian delicacies, distributed literature and enjoyed the camaraderie of this one day to celebrate our rich cultural heritage.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month was kicked up a notch at Macy's Herald Square. Featured artists were Alfa Garcia, Heather Park, Johnny Hi-Fi, Chan and Misnomer(S). Their sizzling performances thrilled the crowd. The event was hosted by Angela Tsai of NBA Timeout.
