The Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival has gained
wide acclaim as one of New York's great cultural attractions and continues to experience tremendous growth in popularity.
The annual festival is a community project that seeks to
celebrate Asian culture and share community resources. It is produced
by a partnership of 80+ APA community organizations and attracts over
8,000 attendees. Each year we reward APA nonprofits that work
together to produce additional social "goods" for the community. We
also acknowledge the leaders in our community that build coalitions
among our constituents. The APA Heritage Festival is an open festival
and we invite the general public to come and share our love for our
heritage, the Asian Pacific American heritage.
We have, in fact, gotten so large, that
we have been forced from our first home at Damrosch Park. The APA
Heritage Festival has now enjoyed overwhelming success at multiple
locations including Union Square and Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza.
Our 30-year partnership with community organizers continues to grow in strength as we help social profit organizations reach new audiences. Our tradition of collaboration remains at the heart of what we do. Our pan-Asian performances have included
representation from traditional Korean, Filipino, Indian and Chinese
dancers. We have had fierce Taiko drummers, Vietnamese and Polynesian
musicians, and modern dancers. We also offer arts & crafts tables, a children's
program, and mini film festivals.
