Call for APA Heritage Festival Performers
On Sunday, May 7th 2000 at Union Square Park North, The Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans presents its 21st Annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival.
A one day event, attended by 6,000 to 10,000 people featuring over a hundred cultural, social and political organizations, artists, and businesses who come to share and celebrate Asian American Heritage Month.
This year's theme is "THE RISING VOICE OF ASIAN AMERICA: At the end of the millennium, We look back and embrace the inspirational voices of the past, and celebrate the courageous voices of the future. From the very first immigrants of the 1500's to today's leaders in the worlds of business, sciences, the arts, politics, entertainment and sports, Asian Pacific Americans continue to make significant contributions to the American diaspora. The Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans is proud to take
this occasion to celebrate the efforts and achievements of these men and women and to embolden the youth who represent our dreams and hopes for the future. The upcoming elections and the recent census serve as rallying cries to our communities to find strength in unity and to make our voices heard."
The Festival's performance committee is currently seeking Asian American artists and groups to perform on the main stage outdoors. (Please note:
